Notice to Lakefield Families
Submitted By Tanya Dunford on Wed 10 06, 21
Before entering the arena, Lakefield Minor Hockey MUST ensure all Ministry and Public Health requirements are being met for all players, coaches and spectators.

To be permitted in the facility:

1. Any participant 18 or over MUST show proof of double vaccination plus 14 days;
2. Any spectator born in 2009 or earlier MUST show proof of double vaccination plus 14 days ; and
3. Any team staff and referees MUST show proof of double vaccination plus 14 days.

If you fall into one of the above categories, you MUST show your proof of vaccination and identification before entering the arena.  In addition, regardless of anyone's age we must ensure everyone has a negative Covid screening (the link is on the Lakefield Minor Hockey website and Selwyn Township has posted a QR code at the front entrance).  Players, coaches and spectators must enter through the designated front entrance only within the timeframe allowed by the arena staff.  Once the doors are locked no one else is allowed into the arena - this means anyone other than arena staff opening a locked door for someone to gain entry is not allowed.

Proof of vaccination must be in its original form, a Ministry email receipt or an uploaded version from the Ministry website.  No modified forms of any kind will be accepted.

Lakefield Minor Hockey and the Township of Selwyn have a zero tolerance policy in effect. As the renter of the arena, Lakefield Minor Hockey is bound by Ontario and Local Public Health Unit requirements to ensure all guidelines are followed as we must confirm this with arena staff upon entry.  If Lakefield Minor Hockey fails to perform it's duties it is very possible the Township will simply discontinue their relationship with Lakefield Minor Hockey and we will not be able to rent ice at the arena.

In order to protect our players from losing the opportunity to play hockey this season, if any person is gaining access to the arena, or assists anyone to gain access to the arena, outside of the mandated process outlined above the following measures will be taken:

First Time - the offender(s) will be asked to leave the arena immediately and will not be allowed in the arena for the remainder of the season.  Both the Township and OMHA will be notified.

Second Time - the offender(s), and the player associated with the offender, will be asked to leave the arena immediately and the player will no longer be eligible for participation in any Lakefield Minor Hockey practices or games for the remainder of the season and no refund of any kind will be provided.  Both the Township and OMHA will be notified.

Lakefield Minor Hockey has no choice but to protect the bulk of the parents, guardians and players that are following the guidelines to ensure the players get to experience a full season of on-ice activities.  We cannot allow any situation to occur that could put our season in jeopardy.  Lakefield Minor Hockey does not own the arena nor do we have the right to use the arena, it is a privilege we enjoy by complying with the rules imposed on us and we thank you for your cooperation.
