Hockey Update
These are strange and confusing times and hockey is no exception!

What we know so far is that this hockey season will not be what you're used to.

Registration
If you want to play hockey this season, or you know someone who wants to play, you must sign up ASAP! With 10 players on a team we need to create our teams and our bubbles right away so we can prepare our Return to Hockey Plan for OMHA. It's difficult to create our 50 player bubble if we don't have everyone signed up. It's also critical that you make plans now to have your player's registration paid in full by October 1st as NO PLAYER will be rostered if payment in full is not received by October 1st. (See Refund Policy below!)

Teams
All teams can only have a maximum of 10 players (9 skaters and a goalie). That applies from U7 (IP) to U21 (Juvenile). All teams can only play in a 50 player bubble. This means that you will only play up to 4 other teams this year.

Hockey Format
There is no body contact allowed in any division. There are no leagues running this year, so we are not part of the LEO or the EOMHL and we will only be allowed to play other teams in the Peterborough Health Unit area. This means that Millbrook will be playing in our bubble this year, but Bancroft, Brighton, Centre Hastings, Tweed and Warkworth are not able to play with us.

Hockey will be modified and played 4 on 4. All games will be one hour long with 2 x 22:00 or 2 x 21:00 minute periods, depending on the division. There will be no flood, and you will not go to the dressing room between periods. There will not be a face off after a goal is scored and play will resume when the referee signals. Score keeping this year is not mandatory, but game sheets will be completed and signed. We are not playing for a LEO Championship and there are no OMHA Championships this year either.

Hockey this year is meant to be fun and keep you active through the winter and we will be playing other teams so it will be somewhat competitive, but it will NOT be what you're used to.

COVID-19 Rules at the Arena
We are still waiting for details on the number of spectators we can have in the arena at one time. We're also working out the details on the use of dressing rooms. Upon arrival at the arena for every game, everyone will have to complete a Health Screening Form, and a Tracking Sheet is required for each on-ice session to facilitate Contact Tracing in the event of a COVID-19 exposure. We will still be charging gate fees for the visiting team and we suspect that other teams will do the same. Masks are not required for on ice participants, but spectators may be required to wear one in the arena. Physical distancing rules will be in effect.

***REFUNDS IN THE 2020/21 SEASON***
Once the season starts, Lakefield Minor Hockey will not be offering refunds. If you're not interested in playing hockey in the format indicated above, please contact us now to delete your registration and obtain a full refund. Once we start the season we will have committed to a specific amount of ice time per division. If players start and then don't like the way hockey has to be played, Lakefield Minor Hockey will still be responsible for the ice costs and for the remaining players that want to keep playing.

If you have any questions about the season, please contact Bryan (705-772-3322) or Tanya (705-760-4533) right away.
