Submitted By Tanya Dunford on Mon 06 10, 19
On July 1st, 2019, Rowan's Law (Concussion Safety), 2018 comes into effect.

This new law makes it mandatory for sports organizations to:

1. Ensure that athletes, parents of athletes under 18, coaches and officials confirm every year that they have reviewed Ontario's concussion awareness resources

2. Establish a removal-from-sport (RFS) and return-to-sport (RTS) protocol

3. Establish a concussion code of conduct that sets out rules of behaviour to support concussion prevention

The review of concussion awareness resources and concussion codes of conduct are expected to be in place by July 1, 2019.

The rules for RFS and RTS are expected to be in place by July 1, 2020.

The Concussion Awareness Resource e-booklets are available below along with a confirmation form that you have reviewed the government's resource in accordance with the legislation.
