FAQs

Registration regularly includes one game and one practice per week for local league teams, so families can expect a minimum of 24 ice sessions over the course of a season. (This may vary, so please contact us for details.)

Representative teams get one game and up to two practices per week for 36 ice sessions over the season.
Costs aren’t as high as you think. We have a basic registration fee which includes a standard level of programming. Additional activity may involve extra fees on a user-pay basis.
Registration covers ice fees for the season along with the cost of insurance.
Yes, they can! Whatever level of experience your child has, they are welcome. The main focus for players ages 5-7 is skating and learning to skate. Even if you're 10 years old and you're a weak skater, you can sign up! By the end of the season, you'll be much better and you'll be glad you came to play!
To make sure we keep our players safe, we require you to provide all the items shown in the picture below. It’s important that your child’s equipment be in good condition, comfortable, and properly fitted in order to avoid injury. Our association can offer help where needed to make sure your child is equipped to play

As with most sports, kids’ hockey is different than the professional game you may watch on television. Our association is committed to keeping your child safe. We do this by having:

  • strict rules for equipment and behaviour,
  • a strong emphasis on teaching skills over contact,
  • no bodychecking allowed until the U15 level,
  • the option of no bodychecking in the higher age levels,
  • trained game officials who enforce league rules,
  • certified coaches and trainers for every team
  • concussion protocol that requires player removal from a game.

We believe hockey is a sport for life, where positive team experiences are always the priority.

Any player is allowed to tryout for Representative hockey in their age division. Keep an eye on our website and social media page for tryout dates in your player's age group.
Players who are new to hockey will be required to submit their full name, birth certificate, and proof of residential address. If this is the first time you are registering your child in hockey, you (the parent or guardian) will need to complete a simple, but important, respect program after registration.

You will be redirected to Hockey Canada to complete your registration.
