COVID Rules in Lakefield (Lakefield Minor Hockey)

PrintCOVID Rules in Lakefield

Every arena has different rules related to COVID-19 mitigation and you should visit a Centre’s website prior to travelling to their arena. In Lakefield, the following rules are strictly in effect. All players and bench staff are required to complete their team's COVID Screening and must not allowed a player to enter an arena without making sure it's complete.

COVID-19 Rules in the Lakefield Arena

1. 40 participants allowed on the ice surface. Only 20 people per bench allowed. (Referees and timekeepers are excluded in this calculation.)

2. Entry to the arena is allowed 15 minutes prior to the start of your ice time only (EG: You’re scheduled to start a game or practice at 1:00. The doors will open for you at 12:45.)

3. The doors to the arena will lock at the scheduled start time of your game or practice. If you are late, we are required to advise you that you will not be permitted to enter.

4. After your game or practice is over, you are required to exit the arena within 15 minutes. (EG: Your scheduled ice time is from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. You must leave the arena by 2:15 p.m.)

5. We strongly recommend that all participants attend the arena dressed in as much equipment as possible. Please ensure that when travelling to the arena in your equipment, you ensure that your child’s seatbelt is worn properly. Driving with your child in the car wearing a chest protector will interfere with seatbelt safety.

6. Skate blade protectors are required for walking into the arena as a slip and fall hazard is high.

7. Under Provincial legislation, anyone lined up outside is required to wear a mask and maintain a physical distance of 6 feet from other people.

8. Once parents enter the arena, they are required to sign in for contact tracing purposes and then send their player toward the dressing room area. Parents are required to immediately proceed to an approved spectator area. NO EXCEPTIONS. Bench staff will assist players into the rest of their equipment if necessary. Only approved bench staff and team volunteers are allowed in the dressing room. Any bench staff not required to assist should also proceed to the spectator area.

9. Only 9 people are allowed in the dressing room at a time while in Lakefield, and at least one member of the bench staff much be present in the dressing room or in an area where they can maintain constant observation of minor players in the dressing rooms at all times.

10. Physical distancing must be maintained inside the arena at all times.

11. Masks must be worn by everyone, including players and bench staff until they are ready to go out onto the ice. Bench staff are required to wear masks while on the bench. They are not required to wear a mask while on the ice during a practice unless they are unable to socially distance.

12. Players are not allowed to put on their helmet to avoid wearing a mask before going on the ice.

13. Parents and spectators may not use the entrance door to the arena to exit. You are required to exit out the door in the spectator side of the arena and walk around to the front of the arena to pick up your child. Players must exit through the door located at the end of the hall near the dressing rooms. This is to avoid crowding at the front of the arena.

Outside food and beverages are not allowed in the arena unless you bring your own reusable beverage container from home. You are not allowed to bring food into the arena.

15. As of September 22nd, all parents, spectators, bench staff, volunteers and players 18 and older must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 in accordance with Provincial and Public Health rules.

The OMHA Vaccination policy as it relates to players under 18 is currently under review.
