Section One – Articles

 

1)      This organization shall be known as the Lakefield and District Minor Hockey Association (Ontario Inc. 714055) and hereinafter referred to as the L.D.M.H.A.

 

2)      The vision of the L.D.M.H.A. is to be the best minor hockey program in Canada.

 

3)      The mission of the L.D.M.H.A. is to lead, develop and promote positive hockey experiences.

 

4)      Objectives of the L.D.M.H.A. are:

 

a)    To foster the maximum opportunity for youth to participate in amateur hockey within the territory under its control.

 

b)    To develop and maintain sportsmanship and good fellowship between all participants for the betterment of their physical, mental and social well-being.

 

c)    To sponsor and promote such athletic, social and other activities as may contribute to the moral and financial welfare of the association.

 

5)      Its affiliates are:

 

a)    The L.D.M.H.A. shall co-operate with the surrounding municipalities with respect to their leadership, office services and financial assistance.

 

b)    The L.D.M.H.A. shall annually affiliate with the O.M.H.A.

 

6)      MEMBERSHIP: Playing, voting, Associated or Affiliated Memberships shall be defined under By-Law One, Section Two.

 

7)      DIRECTORS: The Directors shall be defined under By-Law Two, Section Two

8)      EXECUTIVE: The Executive Committee shall be defined under By-Law Three, Section Two.

 

9)      MEETINGS: Meetings shall be defined under By-Law Three, Section Two.

 

10)    DUTIES: Duties of the L.D.M.H.A. Committees shall be as defined under By-Law Four, Section Two.

 

11)    RULES & REGULATIONS: The rules and regulations applying to the L.D.M.H.A. teams and players shall be as defined under Section Three.

 

12)    CODE OF CONDUCT: The Code of Conduct applying to all members and individuals involved with the L.D.M.H.A. shall be as defined in Appendix A.

 

13)    In the event of the dissolution of the L.D.M.H.A., which may only occur at the Annual Meeting, the remaining funds, if any, shall be divided equally between the remaining minor sports in the Village of Lakefield for their operation.

 

14)    No article of this Constitution shall be altered, rescinded or new one made, except at the Annual General Meeting and then only by a two-thirds majority of the Executive Committee Members present.

 

15)    In the event of the current executive committee passing a motion to propose, to its member,    amalgamation of the LDMHA with a neighbouring OMHA affiliated centre, a vote to proceed with the amalgamation may occur at the Annual General Meeting or at a Special Meeting called specifically for the purpose.  The eligible voters shall be as defined in By Law One Section 2 and can be passed with a simple majority of the members present.

16)    Not withstanding any legal requirement, in the event of LDMHA amalgamating with another centre, any funds equipment, equity and liabilities will become the property and responsibility of the new amalgamated centre.

 

Section Two - By Law One – Membership

 

1)      Player membership in the L.D.M.H.A. shall be open to all players in Lakefield and the surrounding municipalities as defined by the O.M.H.A. regulations, fall within an age group as specified in the O.M.H.A. regulations and upon payment of the annual non-refundable fee set down by the L.D.M.H.A. Membership may be revoked or refused pending a majority vote of the current Executive Committee.

 

2)      Voting Membership: The following is a list of eligible voters at the Annual Meeting:

 

a)      Life Members

b)      Honorary Members

c)      Active past Presidents

d)      Immediate Past Presidents

e)      Executive Committee

f)       Elected and Appointed Officials

g)      Director Appointed Assistants

h)      Coaches, Managers and Trainers of each team shall be entitled to one

          vote per team.

i)       One parent of a registered player(s) in the L.D.M.H.A.

 

3)      An appointed Assistant shall be any interested person approved by the Executive Committee.

 

4)      The L.D.M.H.A. Affiliate Member shall be the O.M.H.A.


 

Section Two - By Law Two - Executive Committee

 

1)      The Executive Committee shall consist of the Immediate Past President, President, 1st Vice-President, 2nd Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, up to 8 Directors and a representative from the Lakefield Minor Hockey Parents Association, if active in the Current Year.

 

2)      Should any vacancy occur during a term in office, the Executive Committee shall have the power to fill that vacancy.

 

3)      The Election of Officers and Directors shall take place yearly. The ballot for each Executive Officer and the ballot for the Directors shall be taken separately at the Annual Meeting.

 

4)      An Executive Member who is absent from three (3) consecutive meetings without sufficient cause shall, upon a motion passed by a majority of the Executive Committee, cease to be a member of the Executive Committee and the Committee shall have the power to fill the vacancy.

 

5)      The Executive Committee shall have the power to take action within the scope of the Constitution and By-Laws. Without limiting the foregoing, The Executive Committee shall more particularly:

 

a)    Appoint such standing Committees, Officials of other Voluntary Personnel as it shall consider necessary for the efficient operation of the L.D.M.H.A. The following Committees or Individuals shall be nominated and voted for or appointed from the Executive Committee:

  1. Registration

  2. Equipment

  3. Referee-In-Chief

  4. Coaching and Development

  5. Convenors

  6. League Contacts

  7. Trophies and Awards

  8. Sponsorship

  9. Ways and Means

  10. Tournaments

  11. Scheduling

  12. Finance

  13. Communications

  14. Constitution Review

  15. Gate and Time Keepers

     

    b)    Hold Business meetings as required, but not less frequently than once each month during the L.D.M.H.A. playing season.

     

    c)    Hold Office until the initial meeting of the incoming Executive.

    6)      Nominations: The Executive Committee shall have the privilege of forming a Nominating Committee of three.

     

    7)      To be eligible for nomination as an Executive Officer, the nominee shall have been a Member of the Executive Committee.

     

     

     

    8)      The President may remain in office for a period of not more than two years.  Extensions may                                          be granted if all current Executive members are in favour including the current President. The current President must then be nominated again at the Annual General Meeting

    9)      The 1st Vice President will automatically succeed the President and the 2nd Vice President will automatically succeed the 1st Vice President. The 2nd Vice President will be elected as required.

     

    10)    The President or a Vice President shall preside at all meetings of the Executive Committee.

     

    11)    The President shall act as the Signing Officer, together with the Secretary, on all Contracts or other legal matters.

     

    12)    The 1st and 2nd Vice Presidents shall perform such duties as are assigned by the President and substitute in them as required.

     

    13)    A member of the Executive Committee shall endeavour not to hold more than two positions in the L.D.M.H.A.

     

    14)    The President may appoint a Committee on Credentials for the Annual Meeting (Refer to By-Law Three, Paragraph 9.3).

     

    15)    The President shall have the power to suspend any player or coaching staff member for unsportsmanlike conduct on or off the ice and /or abusive language to any of the officials. The President shall have the power to impose such suspension in respect to any incident, which may occur in exhibition games or practices as well as regularly scheduled games. Such suspensions shall remain in effect until dealt with by the Executive Committee of the L.D.M.H.A.

     

    16)    The President shall also deal with all suspensions as provided for in the rules of the game.

     

    17)    The Treasurer or designate shall make all deposits to the account of the L.D.M.H.A. in a chartered bank or trust company, selected by the Executive Committee. He or she shall keep proper books of the account and pay all bills and submit up to date statements at monthly Executive Meetings. Cheques shall be signed by any two of the President, Past-President or the Treasurer. The Treasurer shall also prepare the Ledgers for audit and the financial statement for the Annual Meeting.

     

    18)    The Secretary shall notify the Executive Committee Members of the time and place of all meetings. He or she shall keep on file, all correspondence and shall read it at the Executive Committee Meetings. The Secretary shall also keep an accurate record of the proceedings of the association.

     

    19)    The Executive Committee shall have the authority to remove a member by way of a two-thirds majority of the Executive Committee Members.


 

 

Section Two - By Law Three – Meetings of the LDMHA

 

1)      There shall be an Annual Meeting of this Association on a specified day in May.

 

2)      Notice(s) of Motion, correspondence, Constitutional or By-Law Amendments or other matters for consideration at the Annual Meeting shall be made in writing to the L.D.M.H.A. Secretary not later than two weeks preceding the Annual Meeting. The Secretary will notify the Executive Committee of these proposed amendments.

 

3)      By-Laws may be amended by a two-thirds majority vote of the Executive Committee members present at a regular Executive Committee Meeting.

 

4)      The President shall be responsible for calling the first meeting of the new Executive Committee following the Annual Meeting.

 

5)      The President or his or her substitute shall call all meetings as deemed necessary or requested for emergency reasons on a need be basis.

 

6)      Fifty Percent plus one Executive Committee Members shall constitute a quorum for an Executive Committee meeting, one of whom must be the President or a Vice President.

 

7)      Each Member of the Executive Committee shall have a single vote except the President who, in the case of a tie, shall cast the deciding vote.

 

8)      The order of business for Executive Committee Meetings shall be as follows:

  1. Minutes of previous meeting accepted.

  2. Matters arising from minutes of previous meeting.

  3. Treasurers Report

  4. Correspondence

  5. Reports from Committees

  6. New Business

     

    9)      The order of business for the Annual Meeting shall be as follows:

  1. Reading of the minutes of the last Annual Meeting

  2. The President’s Address

  3. Receiving and reading the reports of the Committee on Credentials

  4. Reading of correspondence pertaining to the Annual Meeting

  5. Reading of the Financial Statement

  6. Consideration of reports from any special committees that may have been appointed.

  7. Motions of which notice has been given

  8. General Business

  9. Election of required Executive Committee Members.


 

 

Section Two - By Law Four - Duties of LDMHA Committees

 

Organization:

 

1)      All committees shall endeavour to provide continuity through the selection of Executive Committee and Director Members.

 

2)      All committees shall provide an annual report highlighting their activities.

 

Registration:

  1. Shall be conducted on-line and will adhere to Hockey Canada rules and regulations. At the discretion of the executive members, an in-person registration date may be scheduled.

     

  2. Shall receive and certify all registration applications.

     

  3. Shall coordinate all phases of player registration and current OMHA right of choice rule.

     

  4. Shall establish and advertise registration dates.

 

5)    Shall ensure that each registrant is eligible to play in L.D.M.H.A. as per current O.M.H.A. regulations.

 

Equipment:

  1. There shall be no one other than the Equipment Manager allowed to purchase equipment on behalf of the L.D.M.H.A.

     

  2. Shall make itemized accounts to the monthly meetings of the Executive Committee of equipment purchased.

     

  3. Shall NOT purchase any equipment exceeding $200.00 without previous approval by the Executive Committee.

     

  4. Shall sign out and maintain records of all equipment.

     

  5. Shall arrange for handling, storage, repairing, cleaning and inventory of equipment.

     

  6. L.D.M.H.A jerseys are property of L.D.M.H.A. Each teams received a set of Home Jerseys (white) and Away Jerseys (Red). These jerseys will only be used for games and will be collected after each game by the designated Team Equipment person(s) for games played home and away. The jerseys are not to be retained by players between games. Jerseys are to be washed in cold water, no bleach at regular intervals and stored in the jersey bag provided. The C / A will be loosely attached on the appropriate jerseys (not glued). Nothing else will be stitched or attached to jerseys. The jerseys will not be altered in any manner, with the exception of changing approved sponsors. LDMHA players and teams will abide by this Jersey and Equipment bylaw. Failure to return team jerseys and/or equipment that is the property of LDMHA will result in the monetary charges for the value of the jersey(s) and/or equipment (e.g., ~$120.00 per jersey) and may be subjected to charges under the Criminal Code of Canada.

     

    Referee in Chief:

    1)    Shall oversee the use of the Arbiter to schedule referees for all games requested.

    2)    When a Referee does not put in an appearance it shall be reported immediately to the Referee-In-Chief by the Manager of the home team.

     

    3)    Shall through the aid of clinics train and supply sufficient referees to satisfy the demand of the Association.

     

    4)    Shall encourage and promote upgrading of referees to O.M.H.A. and O.H.A. standards.

    5)    Shall report to the President and appropriate League Contacts, as soon as possible, any game misconduct, major misconduct or other penalty that carries further suspension.

     

    6)    Shall inform all referees of OMHA guidelines and regulations for warm up times.

     

    Coaching:

  1. The coaching committee will consist of a minimum of three, to a maximum of five Executive Committee members.     

     

    2)    The Association will attempt to appoint members who have either coaching or managing experience.

     

    3)    The coaching committee will follow the outlined guidelines:

      1. Advertise for all team(s) staff, requesting written applications, which may include a police criminal record check for new applicants to the association.

      2. Interview all applicants who have submitted applications prior to the posted deadline.

      3. Make recommendations to the Executive Committee for approval of the coaching positions.

      4. Any Coaching Committee member, whose name appears on any team staff list, will not be permitted to take part in the process of nominations for the team the said member has applied.

      5. No person may be added to a team’s staff without approval of this Committee.

      6. The Committee will be responsible for holding a coaches and managers meeting prior to the start of the season informing staff members of the L.D.M.H.A.’s policies.

      7. The Committee shall notify all unsuccessful applicants.

      8. The Committee will report to the Executive Committee at each monthly meeting of any problems with team staff.

      9. Make recommendations at the end of the season for potential coaching staff for the upcoming season.

      10. All team roster sheets are to be reviewed, approved and signed by the Coach Selection Committee.

      11. The committee, when applicable will be responsible for coordinating end of season coaching evaluations and providing completed copies to the respective coaches.

         

        Convenors:

        1)    Shall keep up-to-date team lists.

         

        2)    Shall confer together with the President and the League Contact Person on all releases, waivers, etc. from all teams for the L.D.M.H.A.

         

        3)    Shall function as a liaison for players, parents, Executive Committee and all Coaching staff in the L.D.M.H.A.

         

        4)    Shall attempt to collect outstanding registration at the direction of the Treasurer.

         

        5)    To accommodate registration numbers, the President and the Convenors involved may have final say in team composition.

         

        6)    Shall establish contacts within the L.D.M.H.A. to forward results to the local newspapers and radio stations.

         

         

        League Contacts:

        1)    Shall represent the L.D.M.H.A. at all league meetings.

         

        2)    Shall supply available L.D.M.H.A. scheduled ice time to appropriate League People.

         

        3)    Shall handle all correspondence between the League and the L.D.M.H.A.

         

        4)    Shall vote on the vested behalf of the L.D.M.H.A. at League Meetings.

         

        5)    Shall be responsible for the distribution, signing and return of all player cards.

         

        Trophies and Awards:

        1)    Shall maintain the Trophy Cabinet in good order.

         

        2)    Shall purchase all trophies and awards required by L.D.M.H.A. during the year. Any purchase of $200.00 or more is to be approved by the Executive Committee.

         

        3)    Shall have all required engraving done annually.

         

        4)    Shall prepare a list of all trophy winners in each division for the Awards Assembly.

         

        5)    Shall organize Red and White Day or similar year end event.

         

        6)    Shall be responsible for organizing team photographs.

         

        7)    Shall be responsible for updating of all banners, trophies & plaques as required annually.

         

        Sponsorship and Publicity:

        1)    Shall bill sponsors annually.

         

        2)    Shall keep a record of paid and unpaid sponsorships and forward names of unpaid sponsors to the Treasurer of the L.D.M.H.A. by December 1st of the current year.

         

        3)    Shall obtain any new sponsors for teams as required.

         

        4)    Shall acknowledge the sponsors of the L.D.M.H.A. appropriately.

        Ways and Means:

        1)    Shall arrange any undertaking by the L.D.M.H.A. to raise money, with the approval of the Executive Committee.

         

        2)    Shall be responsible for making up and overseeing sub-committees and arrangements.

         

        3)    Shall present the L.D.M.H.A. Executive Committee with a financial statement for each undertaking.

         

        4)    Shall keep records on file for future reference.

         

        Tournaments:

  1. Shall arrange for calling the meetings and to oversee all committees and arrangements for Tournaments.

     

    Committee Duties:

      1. Keep a record of minutes of meetings (if any).

      2. Send out entry forms.

      3. Receive entry forms, record registration fees and turn them over to the Treasurer upon receipt.

      4. Answer correspondence.

      5. Team line-ups and program sales.

      6. Gate admissions, tickets.

      7. Referees, time keepers.

      8. Apply for O.M.H.A. permits and file O.M.H.A. Tournament reports.

      9. Contact Trophy and Awards Chair.

      10. Rules and Regulations.

      11. Settings of disputes.

      12. Making up draws of teams

      13. Advertisement.

      14. Billeting (if any).

      15. Prepare a detailed statement for L.D.M.H.A. Executive Committee for each tournament including ice time and award costs.

      16. Schedule required ice time for each tournament.

        Scheduling:

        1)    Shall be responsible for obtaining ice time for the L.D.M.H.A.

         

        2)    Shall be responsible for scheduling, re-scheduling, exchange and cancellation of

               ice time.

         

        3)    Shall approve and record all ice times used and/or refused by teams under the

               jurisdiction of the L.D.M.H.A. regardless of the purpose and means of payment.

         

        4)    Shall post the schedule on the LDMHA website and notify the Referee in Chief.

         

        Finance:

        1)    Shall be responsible for setting a budget for the coming year.

         

        2)    Shall be responsible for monitoring the budget throughout the year.

         

        3)    Shall recommend to the Executive Committee any changes to registration fees,

               season passes, gate fees and gate salaries paid, if any.

         

        4)    Shall recommend to the Executive Committee for their approval, a Gate Manager

               who will schedule the Gate for all L.D.M.H.A. games and turn monies from the

               Gate over to the Treasurer. The Gate Manager shall keep a daily ledger.

         

  1. Shall present at the annual meeting a report of the years’ financial operations.

 

 

Constitution Review:

1)    Shall review Constitution and make recommendations to the Executive

       Committee at random years as the Executive Committee deems necessary.

 

2)    Shall present Revised Constitution proposals at the Annual Meeting.

 

3)    Shall monitor the Constitution and ensure that it is followed.

 

Communications:

1)    Coordinate the delivery of a L.D.M.H.A. web page geared to serving association

       Members

 

2)    Ensure that content of the information board at the arena is current and that a

       copy of the Constitution and By-laws is available

 

3)    Distribute association-wide e-mailings as required

 

  1. Coordinate Association advertising/announcements in local media.

    Section Three – Rules and Regulations

     

    Transportation:

    1)    Bussing shall be solely at the discretion of each individual team (parents and       coaching staff of the team) including Rep, AE and Leo.

     

    2)    In all cases, if the majority of the team decides to travel by bus, whether or not all players travel on the bus, all players will be required to share in the cost of the bus.

     

    3)    All buses used by the L.D.M.H.A. will be ordered through the Team Manager or designate.

     

     

    Colours:

    1)    L.D.M.H.A. team colors shall be predominately White, Red or Black.

     

    2)    All L.D.M.H.A. shirts, when replaced, shall carry the name “Lakefield” with an Indian Chief Head on the front.

     

    Soliciting of Funds:

  1. No Person or persons shall sell tickets or articles to raise funds, directly solicit funds, or accept donations for a team without the specific permission of the Executive Committee.

     

    Team Awards:

    1)    Any L.D.M.H.A. team advancing to the O.M.H.A. finals may receive a suitable award from the L.D.M.H.A. if funds are available.

     

     

    Playing Time for Players:

    1)    It shall be the responsibility of the Executive Committee, Coaching Staff and Convenors to see that all players are played as equally as possible on all teams.

     

    Hockey Rules:

    1)    The L.D.M.H.A. shall use and follow the rules of the O.M.H.A. and the O.H.F./ C.H.A.

     

    Injuries:

    1)    The L.D.M.H.A. will not be responsible for any injuries to any person or players participating in activities of the L.D.M.H.A.

     

    General Rules and Regulations:

  1. Anyone owing fees from a previous year will not be allowed to register until paid up.

     

    2)    At the discretion of the President, Treasurer and the Division Convenor, financial assistance may be arranged through L.D.M.H.A., area service clubs or government services for those who express an inability to pay.

     

    3)    Fees:

      1. All players, whether or not they take the bus, must pay their share of the rate set by the Executive Committee.

      2. All team fees or expenses incurred are the responsibility of that particular team and players.

         

        4)    Where players are skating with more than one team, a fee for the additional ice time may be charged at the discretion of the President, Treasurer and Finance Chair after conferring with the teams involved.

         

        5)    All players must play for their proper age classification unless approved by the President, after conferring with the Convenors and the Coaches involved.

         

        6)    All players trying out for a Representative Alternate Entry (AE) team must initially try out for the Representative (A) team in the same division.  Any late entry player following tryouts with a desire to play for a Rep Team shall be provided the opportunity to be evaluated by the team Coach based on the following conditions:

      1. There is space available on the team

      2. Approval of division Convenor

      3. Approval of the Rep Coach

      4. Registration is paid in full

      5. Tryout fees are paid in full

         

        7)    Any player wishing a release must come before the Convenor to state their reasons. All cases will be dealt with individually by the president and the Convenor after conferring with the Coaching Staff and the Contact Person involved and in accordance with OMHA rules and regulations.

         

        8)    The Convenor has the power to recommend to the President and the Coaching Committee, any action to be taken against the Coaching Staff for neglect of Duties, unsportsmanlike conduct or any other conduct, which is not in the best interest of the players or the L.D.M.H.A.

         

        9)    The Convenor has the power to recommend to the President of the L.D.M.H.A. the suspension of any player for one or more games for conduct not acceptable to the L.D.M.H.A.

         

        10) The President may suspend anyone affiliated with LDMHA for one or more games for the following infractions committed during, before or after any game or practice, keeping in mind the 24 hour rule:

              1. Abusive language.

              2. Smoking/chewing tobacco in the dressing room.

              3. Destroying or mishandling of property belonging to other.

              4. Inappropriate conduct on or off the ice.

              5. Stealing of property belonging to others.

              6. For consumption of alcoholic beverages or prohibited substances.

                 

                11) Coaching Staff, Convenors or Executive Committee Members shall report all offenders to the President with recommendations.

                 

                12) No one shall deface or modify L.D.M.H.A. team sweaters.

                 

                13) All Coaching Staff shall wear a CSA approved helmet while on the ice for L.D.M.H.A. team practices.

                 

                14) The warm-up period on the clock at the start of games shall be implemented by the Referee(s).

                 

                15)  Each Trainer shall carry a First-Aid Kit that meets OMHA standards and shall be reimbursed up to a maximum of $60.00 by LDMHA per year.

                 

                16)  All Team Staff Members shall be approved by the Coaching Committee.

                 

                17) Required Trainer and Coach Course Fees shall be paid by L.D.M.H.A. on approval from the Executive Committee.

                 

                18) L.D.M.H.A. shall pay the registration fee and potential subsidization for accommodations, when funds are available, for each delegate allowed to attend the O.M.H.A. Annual Meeting.

                 

                19) Executive Committee Members appointed to attend O.M.H.A., O.H.A. or other approved league meetings shall be paid Thirty-Five Cents ($0.35) per kilometer.

                 

                20) Admission is to be charged for all League games, depending on specific league rules.  Admission for exhibition games is the responsibility of each individual team as will the fees for referees and time keepers.  Exhibition games are to be played only on assigned dates and NOT during practice times.

                21) Parents and/or Legal Guardians and siblings of registered L.D.M.H.A. players shall not pay admission to L.D.M.H.A. home games. However, once a team reaches quarter-finals, all people shall pay admission with the exception of the player’s immediate family and L.D.M.H.A. Executive Committee Members and their immediate families.

                 

                22) The following is a list of some Duties/Responsibilities of all Team Managers:

  1. It is the recommendation of the L.D.M.H.A. Executive Committee that there be no direct relationship between the Team Manager and other Coaching Staff Members of the same team. (i.e. spouse; significant other).

     

  2. Shall hand out a projected Team Budget in writing to all Team Members at the beginning of the season. Expenses that are not pertinent to the necessary function of the team shall be approved by a majority of the player’s Parents on the team.

     

  3. LDMHA shall provide a receipt book to the Team Managers who in turn, shall issue receipts for all team monies collected.

     

  4. Shall be prepared to provide, an up-to-date bookkeeping Ledger and shall be prepared to show any team member their personal financial position within a reasonable time period.

     

  5. Shall deliver to each Team Member, a Year-end Financial Statement, detailing all transactions from the Team Budget.

     

     

    23)  Codes of Conduct

           Parents, Guardians, players, coaches, trainers, managers, administrators and officials are to abide by LDMHA’s codes of conduct outlined below. 

     

    LDMHA PARENT/GUARDIAN CODE OF CONDUCT

     

·           Encourage children to participate, do not force them. Remember that children participate in sport for their enjoyment, not yours

 

·           Focus on the child's efforts and performance rather than winning or losing

·           Encourage children to play according to the rules and to settle disagreements without resorting to hostility or violence

 

·           Never ridicule or yell at a child for making a mistake or losing a game

·           The game of hockey is a team sport. Encourage teamwork and the importance of being a team player with your child

 

·           Remember that children learn best by example. Appreciate good performances and skilful plays by all participants

 

·           Support all efforts to remove verbal and physical abuse from sporting activities

 

·           Respect officials' decision and teach children to do likewise

·           Show appreciation for volunteer coaches, officials and administrators. Without them, your child could not participate

 

·           Respect the rights, dignity and worth of every young person regardless of their gender, ability, cultural background or religion

 

·           Be respectful and mindful of social media. These are not appropriate forums to post offensive pictures, voice opinions about the organization’s administration, coaches, trainers, managers, players, parents and supporters.

 

·           Understand that playing a sport involves a commitment to the team.  Make every attempt to always get your child to every game and practice on time.  Where this is not possible, contact the coach in advance

 

LDMHA PLAYER CODE OF CONDUCT

 

·           Participate for your own enjoyment and benefit, not just to please parents and coaches

 

·           Learn, understand, respect and play by the rules of the game

·           Work equally hard for yourself and for your team. Your team's performance will benefit, so will you

 

·           Recognize that you are part of a team and be a TEAM PLAYER. A team player is not only generous with the puck on the ice, but is also generous of praise and encouragement for his/her teammates both on and off the ice, and away from the arena

 

·           Do your best to represent the team at all times. Do not defend or engage in actions on or off the ice (dressing rooms, arenas, buses, tournament venues etc.) which are not consistent with good sportsmanship and respect

 

·           Cooperate and respect officials and coaches decisions.  Without them there would be no game and no team

 

·           Consider the safety of other players, coaches, trainers, officials, volunteers, supporters and parents

 

·           Maintain self control at all times. Verbal and physical abuse will not be tolerated

 

·           Respect the rights, dignity and worth of every person regardless of their gender, ability, cultural background or religion

 

·           Avoid drugs, tobacco and alcohol

·           Be respectful and mindful of social media. These are not appropriate forums to post offensive pictures, voice opinions about the organization’s administration, coaches, trainers, managers, players, parents and supporters.

LDMHA COACHES, TRAINERS, MANAGERS CODE OF CONDUCT

·           Remember that young people participate for pleasure and winning is only part of the fun. Never ridicule or yell at a young player for making a mistake

 

·           Be reasonable in your demands on players' time, energy and enthusiasm. Set attainable goals for the team and individual players while encouraging safety, physical fitness, fairness and fun for all players

 

·           Communicate with players, parents, officials, administrators, coaches, trainers and managers honestly, generously, fairly and with integrity

 

·           Operate within the rules and spirit of your sport and teach your players to do the same

 

·           Ensure that the time players spend with you is a positive experience. All young people are deserving of equal attention and opportunities

 

·           Ensure that equipment and facilities meet safety standards and are appropriate to the age and ability of all players

 

·           Be a positive role model. Display control, respect and professionalism to all involved with the sport. This includes opponents, coaching staff, officials, administrators, parents and spectators. Encourage players to do the same

 

·           Obtain appropriate qualifications and keep up to date with the latest practices and the principles of safety, growth and development of young people

 

·           Pay attention to and consider changing social family and economic environments that may influence the attitudes and behaviour of players

 

·           Respect the rights, dignity and worth of every young person regardless of their gender, ability, cultural background or religion

 

·           Be respectful and mindful of social media. These are not appropriate forums to post offensive pictures, voice opinions about the organization’s administration, coaches, trainers, managers, players, parents and supporters.

 

LDMHA ADMINISTRATORS AND VOLUNTEERS CODE OF CONDUCT

·           Provide all young people equal and safe opportunities to participate. Emphasize fair play, respect and fun

 

·           Ensure that supervision, instruction, rules, equipment, length of games and practice schedules are modified to suit the age, ability and maturity level of young players

 

·           Help coaches and officials highlight appropriate behaviour and skill development, and help improve the standards of coaching and officiating

 

·           Remember, you are a role model and set an example. Your behaviour and comments should be positive and supportive

 

·           Take appropriate action when necessary to protect or enhance the safety and development of players, coaches, trainers, officials parents and other administrators and volunteers and in accordance with codes of conduct for players, parents, officials, administrators and volunteers

 

·           Respect the rights, dignity and worth of every young person regardless of their gender, ability, cultural background or religion

 

·           Be respectful and mindful of social media. These are not appropriate forums to post offensive pictures, voice opinions about the organization’s administration, coaches, trainers, managers, players, parents and supporters.

 

LDMHA OFFICIALS CODE OF CONDUCT

·           Set a good example as a positive role model. Condemn unsporting behaviour and promote respect. Behaviour and comments should be positive and supportive

 

·           Encourage and promote rule changes that will make participation more enjoyable. Ensure rules and regulations are enforced and matched to the skill levels and needs of young people

 

·           Place the safety and welfare of the participants above all else

 

·           Communicate with players and team officials honestly, generously with fairness and integrity

 

·           Be consistent, objective and courteous when making decisions. Compliment and encourage all participants

 

·           Keep up to date with the latest trends in officiating and the principles of growth and development of young people

 

·           Give all young people a 'fair go' regardless of their gender, ability, cultural background or religion

 

·           Be respectful and mindful of social media. These are not appropriate forums to post offensive pictures, voice opinions about the organization’s administration, coaches, trainers, managers, players, parents and supporters.
